Cristiano Ronaldo’s reaction to the Al Shabab audience on February 26 is being investigated by the Saudi Pro League Disciplinary Committee and the Portuguese star may be banned from playing 2 matches.

Al Riyadiya newspaper (Saudi Arabia) affirmed that Ronaldo must pay the price, possibly being suspended for two matches and fined for behavior considered unsportsmanlike. However, this tournament’s home page has not reported any news about the punishment.

If the penalty is given, Cristiano Ronaldo could be suspended for two matches against Al Hazim in the Saudi Arabia tournament on February 29, as well as the AFC Champions League quarterfinal second leg match with Al Nassr next week.

In the match in round 21 of the Saudi National Championship (Saudi Pro League) on February 26, Al Nassr won 3-2 on Al Shabab’s field. In particular, C. Ronaldo contributed a goal from the penalty spot in the 21st minute.

After celebrating Al Nassr’s victory at the end of the match, Ronaldo repeatedly made obscene gestures towards Al Shabab fans. Accordingly, while the group of fans continuously chanted “Messi, Messi, Messi” in the stands, CR7 spread his legs and continuously moved his hands up and down in his pelvic area.

After this video was posted on social networks, many fans expressed anger at the Portuguese superstar’s offensive behavior. They spoke out against and demanded punishment for the striker born in 1985.

However, many fans think this action is meant to be funny, when Ronaldo can act like a DJ or a gesture in the game Fortnite.

In the final of the Riyadh Cup friendly tournament against Al Hilal on February 8, Ronaldo was also criticized for his gesture related to a sensitive area. Seeing the audience throwing their shirts on the field, he put their shirts in his pants, then threw them back into the stands.

Since moving to play for Al Nassr in January 2023, Ronaldo has only been suspended for one match, due to receiving enough yellow cards.

The 39-year-old Portuguese star scored in the 6th consecutive match in the Saudi League. In the last 10 rounds, he also scored in 9 matches and only “failed” when Al Nassr lost to top team Al Hilal 0-3 on December 2 last year.
